Here's my Top Five Ditch Wheel list:

1. Comet Aqua 68mm 86?a

2. Rainskates Tsunami 65mm 85a

3. Comet Navy 68mm 82?a

4. Bones Bomber 68mm 85a

5. Abec 11 No Skoolz 65mm 88a

I'm still trying to get my hands on a cheap set of 70mm 86a Krypto Hawaii K's to test out.

Yea,  I am with you on the 85a duro's...

Although I prefer a little smaller wheel, like around a 60mm

The Black Ditch/Thin Ratz 60mm are killer (that is what Jason & I use).

No Skool 88m seems to be too hard... I may try the 81a duro instead.

Yep, I've got to say the no schoolz in 81 is where its at for me,better than the 88's.Broom finish ditches is where I'm skating. The gravity wheels were real fast but they coned quickly. I will try the pink powerballs next.

Comet aquas are my favorites for ditches for sure. Those are my main ditch wheels, I use no skoolz 65mm 81a's and Tsu 85a's for applications, the No skoolz on a fat 34''for this fast, gnarly ditch with concrete blotches and kinks(Firepit)that narrower wheels feel a little squirrely at, should be good at Yuvis too. Tsu's on a 36'' I have been using at the wave bank(10 foot bank always with a bunch of crap in the runway towards it), loading dock banks and curbs.

Comets aquas are my wheel of choice for all ABQ and LV ditches I have ridden except the Bear and bigger, hitting that Bear kink with a narrowish 68mm wheel was not cool, its sharper than it looks in pics. your'e riding Gumballs in there right K-Lee?

For the Bear, I was riding Gumballs, but found them to be a bit slow.  Now I'm running 81a 83mm Flywheels, but the Bear is less of a ditch and more of a speed-run anyway.

I can see how some people prefer the smaller 60mm wheels, especially for session-style ditches.  The 85a Rat Bones reissues should be sweet for a smaller wheel.  Right now I'm running 60mm 88a Krypto Slammers on a trimmed-down Alva Beefy Pom Pom.  The Slammers are a great wheel for the price.

I can also see how 81a No Skoolz would be better than the 88's.  I'm still all about the Aquas though.

Anything by Abec 11 is a good ditch wheel, depending on the style of riding you do.  I bet the 66mm Strikers in 81a would be pretty nice.  Flashbacks are good for cruising, as are Gumballs and Grippins etc.....  But I do more "down-the-line-surfing" in these big long ditches, and less parking-block sessioning than most ditch riders I bet.

Comet is where it's at though.  If they're too big, just wear them down to 63mm like Dan did.

Great info guy's.

I will be swinging by Abec11 today to get some wheels for the site.

Probably starting out with 60mm & 65mm in 81a & 88a duro's.

Thanks.

Damn, our quivers are getting pretty similar yo.

I just mounted up some 83mm flys on my Bozi, 78a's, gonna be nice for the hills around here and the Bear next time probably.

I wouldn't say 81a no skoolz are better than 88,  I have had both and the 88's do not feel much harder than the 81's except when you get to the really rough broomed kinked shtuff, for most of ABQ I think you'd like 88's better. 81's for Borealis ditch.

I am feeling better about Rainskates 85's and gumballs today, was finally really cranking front and backside standup slides no problem. Both had beeen really sticky, finally got them broken in I guess. This will open up all kinds of cool stuff.

Hey Randy, are those floodkontrol 60mm's rainskate wheels? Is the formula the same as the Tsu's?

Jay & I ride the Black wheels.

60mm 85a... Smaller but same duro, and look much better.Yes [Y]Yes [Y]

I prefer 60's and was hoping Rainskates would make them smaller for me, but o' well.

I rode the Abec11 88a's at their shop & they felt good so, now I have to try them in a ditch.

Those Tracker Ollie wheels sound sweet.  I have lots of stickers for them that I've gotten out of baggies of NOS Stimulators, but I've never seen a set of the wheels in person.  I didn't even know they came in 85a. 63mm sounds like a good compromise between 60mm and 65mm too.

On the 70mm side of things, I finally got a set of the Krypto Hawaii K's that I've been looking for in 86a.  They felt horrible, even after breaking in a little bit.  I was comparing them side by side with the Comet Aquas and I came to the conclusion that the Kryptos had to get A LOT better to be even comparable to the Aquas.  I understand that wheels start to feel a bit more predictable once their broken in, but the Aquas didn't feel this bad when they were new, and I don't see the Kryptos breaking in so well that they overcome that gap, so I sold them off already.  They're not even worth putting on a top ten list.

If I had to make a personal top ten ditch wheel list, I think it would go something like this:  (I'll stick to wheels that I've actually tried)

1. Comet Aquas (#1 hands down in  my opinion, especially for big fast ditches)

2. Rainskates Tsunamis 85a (closest thing to an Aqua that I've ridden yet)

3. Comet Navy (a bit grippier than the Aquas, but still very drifty and slidable)

4. Powell/Surf One 65mm 80a All Terrain Cruisers or whatever (like the Aquas, these are very slidey for being 80a, I almost forgot about these)

5. Bones Bombers 85a (nice and soft to handle the rough stuff, but there are some obvious downsides, notably that they're kinda sluggish and almost too slidey at times, and there's no hard core to support the bearings. In 60mm, 64mm, or 68mm depending on terrain/personal taste)

6. No Skoolz 65mm 81/88a (duro depending on the finish of the ditch and personal taste, 84a would be nice but is not available)

7. BDS retro wheels under 90a (single or double conical, your choice, although the 87a Bottle Glass Green versions seriously drag ass and the Mellow Yellow series look too soft)

8. Krypto Slammers 60mm 88a (kinda grippy and slow, but they smooth out the rough stuff and feel good underfoot, cheap too)

9. Comet Games (90a feels too hard for me though)

10. Abec 11 Flashbacks (not as functional as the above choices, but they still feel pretty good. In 81a, 84a, or 88a depending)

Wheels that I have not tried yet but would like to get in a ditch some time:

1. Comet Greys

2. Rat Bones reissues in 85a

3. Flood Kontrol Thin Ratz

4. BDS mini-dubs

5. Abec 11 Strikers 66mm 84a or 88a

6. Seismic Hot Spots or trimmed Avalons

7. Those Tracker Ollies in 85a if I could find a set.

8. SMA 88a wheels, anyone tried these?

9. S9 Nineballs in 62mm 82a

10.  Black Label Emergency 62mm 85a cored wheels.

I'm also curious about any of the mainstream filmer wheels from Ricta, Pig, Satori, etc.  Although they'd probably feel too soft (most are 78a), I bet they'd have a good profile, and even some of the sizes are good.  I have some Autobahn filmers in 56mm 80a on a mini board and the wheels are really fast and not too grippy.  One thing I don't like about them though, besides their size, is that the have a sharp square inner lip that tends to get eaten up.

I've had several sets of Kryptonics and several sets of Gravity wheels, and I hated all of them.  I know that most locals around here swear by the white Classic Kryptos, but they seem too soft for me personally and I'm not into the shape really.  But that's just me.

I rode some trimmed avalons 80a rear and ran 88a grippins front in the bear.  I ride trimmed avalons for slalom too.  I havent found a wheel that sticks as good.

the tracker ollie's kinda remind me of some old bullets but not as wide.  I'm going to be pissed when they are wore out.

I wish I could get a shitfire in a 90a for the ditches around here.

Hey K-Lee I rocked a set of those Krypto Hawaii's last summer on my downhill board and they disintrigrated pretty quick after a while. They were clear urathane so I think that might have had something to do with it. Clear ura seems to break apart after a while but it's super grippy. I might ride Krypto's again but I'll never ride any clear urathane again.

K-Lee,

The Thin Ditch Ratz are currently my "Monthy Special" although I will save a set for you. So when I come out there you can test out my Ditch Stick with the Ratz wheels.

I tryed the Route62 Krypto 78a's but waaay too soft & mushy for me. possibly better in really rough ditches.
