| Come
join Mississippi Grass Roots Slalom and Road Kill Racing for two days
of slalom in beautiful Ridgeland, Mississippi sponsored by Ridgeland
Parks & Recreation and The Pearl River Valley Water Supply
District. The forth annual Luna Slalom Jam will be held on May 5th
& 6th of 2006. On Friday afternoon, May 5th, we will run an open
Giant Slalom on Cole Road in Ridgeland. We will try to get started
around 5:30 or so. The slope is moderately steep and the surface is a 6
or 7 out of 10. If anyone remembers Road Kill Hill from the 2003
contest it’s very similar only steeper, as a matter of fact, it’s only
one street away from Road Kill. I plan on setting a course that newbies
and longboarders can make but still be a challenge for the seasoned
racers. This will be a single lane, one start ramp race. We will try to
get at least three timed runs in before dark. After the race we will
gather at the Byrd’s house for food, drink and depending or
constructions pace, either a swim or a session in the new pool.
Saturday,
May 6th is the big day. We plan on getting started at 10:00am with a
newbie race. We will have a large parking lot closed off with portable
Freshpark ramps for the street skaters to use. We are also going to
hold a huge game of SKATE to give the street skaters a part in Luna
this year. We should be running the main event around 2:00 in the
afternoon. Yes, your right, we will not be running Luna at night this
year.
Luna
Slalom Jam will be an open class race, everyone welcome, dual lane,
start ramps, four beep start with false start detection, tightish
hybrid course but doable by our newer racers. We will be running A, B
& C classes. Guaranteed prize purse of $500 for the top three in
this event only. The hill is short but sweet. The surface is near
perfect. It starts off flat then drops fast and steep then levels off
to a very slight uphill finish. You’ll have to work the pump at the
end. This should make for some good racing to the line. Check out the
hill here:

After
party will be on site at the Ross Barnett Reservoir Lodge over looking
the water. We plan on Bar-B-Que and Spicy boiled Crawdads.
